I have decided to do two different storyboards. I made these from the thumbnail storyboard I did in my sketchbook. I have added some extra bits and tweaked the compositions of some of the scenes to make them look and work better. I will render them later on when I have done the mood board. The first storyboard is a quick film telling the public where not to get rid of their low energy light bulbs but what to do instead. And the second one is to show them what to do if one breaks.
Storyboard One
"low energy light bulbs..."
Words glow like lights
"...contain small amounts..."
'Low energy light bulbs' melt - melted substance changes into metal
"....of mercury. And so they need to be..."
Metal substance forms into the word 'mercury'
"...disposed of in the correct way."
Hand pull up black bag over 'mercury'
Screen goes black
"Don't throw your low energy light bulbs in your normal bin"
Zooms out from black screen- out from the black bag
"or in any glass recycling bins"
"Take it to your local council or to a retailer whose owner is a member of the Distributor Take Back scheme."
I was very happy with this storyboard, its simple and will be a quick film but I feel that it puts the information across well and that everyone will be able to understand it.
Storyboard Two
"low energy light bulbs..."
Words glow like lights
"...contain small amounts..."
'Low energy light bulbs' melt - melted substance changes into metal
"....of mercury. And so if..."
Metal substance forms into the word 'mercury'
"...your low energy light bulb happens to break..."
Bulb falls into view and smashes
"..vacate the room for at least fifteen minutes."
Door shuts and there is a little pause
"When clearing the broken bulb up do not use the vacuum - leave it in the cupboard."
Hand turns light off
Screen goes black and sound of door shutting
"Put on a pair of rubber gloves and sweep it up"
Glove is pulled tight and let go to snap
"Slip the debris into a plastic bag and seal"
Person puts the debris into the bag
"You can't take broken bulbs back to the retailer but you can take it to your local council."
Again, the same as the first storyboard, I feel that it puts the information again clearly and the images are quite bold to make it at least a little bit interesting! Its very simple but hopefully the outcome will be very effective! I can't wait to make them both into animatics!
